So... We're now well into the Christmas season, a time full of hectic last minute Christmas shopping and awful traffic, a time where we cut down trees and dress them up with coloured lights and wrap them with ridiculous coils of tinsel and baubles. The time of year to receive awful jumpers you’ll never wear, socks for work and that shower gel you never wanted. It is the time of year to spend lots of money and receive so little in return other than a migraine and a spot of heartburn.
I love Christmas and not everything needs to be as bleak as the statement above, but I’m sure that many of you have heard these complaints in the past from friends, family and customers alike, however I have to say that Christmas is my favourite time of year, don’t get me wrong it used to be a massive stress, but I’ve since found it’s so much easier if you prepare early and let yourself get caught up in the festivities. The important thing is to just relax, do what you can and not stress too much about it, after all it only comes once a year and what is the worst that is going to happen? It doesn’t need to be a big headache.
What I love especially about Christmas is how everyone tries hard to be nice and courteous, how much more cheery everything looks with the lights and the decorations and specifically when the snow comes with it.
However as many of you will know the snow is a little bit of an irregularity and isn’t at all that reliable, one year it comes along for several months, the next not at all!
So why not spread some of that Christmas joy on your website where you can make it snow every day of the Festive period? You may have noticed the subtle snow effect that we have on this very website as well as our new project site for Blyth Town & Blyth Valley Borough. The snow can be customised as well to accommodate for a snow flake shape and can come in a variety of speeds and colours. (I just wouldn’t recommend the yellow snow!!)
There are benefits from this aside the aesthetics, as the addition of this code to your website is read by the search engines as a refresh to the design of your website and therefore encourages the search engines to re-index your website, so it has it’s practical benefits too.
For a mere £30.00 setup fee Widescope can install the snow on each page of your website and will arrange to remove the code on the date of your choice, after Tuesday 3rd of January when we reopen for business in 2012.
However if snow doesn’t fill you with Christmas joy we have a number of predesigned Christmas icons and even fairy lights for your website and we are fully capable of creating custom Christmas icons and images for your website, so why not get involved with the holiday spirit and spread some Christmas joy to the users of your website?
I can honestly say that your clients will notice and appreciate it and if you are concerned about the image that it portrays of your company, think about the number of shops and businesses that put up decorations in the work place for the staff and then take a peek at the following businesses that have gussied up their sites especially for the Christmas period (some more subtle than others):
- Blyth Town - www.blythtown.net
- PC World – www.pcworld.co.uk (Christmas decorations on the slider)
- HMV – www.hmv.co.uk (The background purple is just for Christmas)
- Sky Sports – www.skysports.com
- Cinderella Shoes – www.cinderellashoes.ie
