Well the bank holiday weekend approaches and why not celebrate in style this weekend at Blyth Rugby & Cricket Club (Rebranding themselves as Blyth Clubhouse for a little bit of self identity) as they are now running numerous Beer, Cider & Music Festivals each year after the success of their first festival back in May.

This weekend sees Blyth Clubhouse expand on the experience with an evening of music in the clubhouse and out on the field from 5pm until 10:30pm and your's truly will be playing at the festival with my new band Digits under the guise of Blind Pilots. The festival is promising to be a good one with acts confirmed such as oddball acoustic folk rocker Pete Shaw, an unplugged show from Repertoire Dogs guitarists Emma & Kev Wells with their side project "'im & 'er" and a headline slot from Blyth's own rockers 57 who will be doing covers of hit songs spanning the 1970's upto the 00's with songs from Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd & Velvet Revolver and thats just the Saturday.

Widescope hosts and developed Blyth Clubhouse's new website, which is for and managed by the bar itself as a separate entity from the Rugby & Cricket sections. The new website uses our new Widescope Web Freedom Business package and integrates a number of javascript enabled technologies such as a content slider (which we have created a new banner for them as displayed below) and a latest news scroller.

More information on the full event is shown below:

After the huge success of our first beer festival, we've decided to host our second! The August bank holiday sees the Clubhouse beer festival return bigger and better than the last one!

With over 30 beers, ciders and perrys over the weekend, we're sure there will be something for everyone! The main selection of beers and ciders hail from the Northumbrian brewery, with others coming from other selected breweries; and we're welcoming back the very popular 'Blyth RFC festival ale' specially brewed for us! Due to a shortage of ciders last time, we will definately have more on offer this time around!

This beer festival also begins the festivities commemorating the 50th anniversary of Blyth Rugby Club.

Over the course of the weekend, we have a range of entertainment on offer:

  • Friday 5pm- Beer festival commences!
  • Saturday 1pm- Blyth Cricket VS (TBC), food vendors
  • Saturday 5pm- 10:30pm-Live bands including Im N Er, Blind Pilots, 57 and more TBC
  • Sunday 1pm-5pm - Family Funday; including bouncey castles, music, face painting, balloon artist, stalls, raffles, hook-a-duck, demonstrations, food vendors and much more tbc.
  • Monday 12Noon- Rugby 7s tournament

The entry fee of £2.50 includes a commemorative glass. If brought back, this glass ensures free entry for the rest of the weekend (excluding the £1 entry to the family funday). However, should you lose this glass, you will be charged re-entry; so keep a hold of it, and take it home at the end of the weekend!

Don't forget, any beer on tap at the time is available to take home in our 2 pint take-away containers! Just ask one of our friendly volunteers. It can also be poured, ready for collection when you wish to leave to save you carrying it around.
